Both the 65-inch version and the smaller 55-inch version of this Smart TV from Sony received the overall grade "very good" (1.1) from CHIP. The device convinced the experts with a color space that is significantly wider than the DCI-P3 color space typical of HDR images. That's why you benefit from intense colors and very low reflections when watching TV. Sony also achieves top results with the fine 4K display, the contrasts and the brightness. In terms of brightness, this QD-OLED TV even achieves a new record for OLED TVs with 1,042 cd/m² in brilliant mode. However, in ambient light, the deep OLED blacks of darker grayscales diminish. Nonetheless, Blu-ray and Full HD images from TV broadcasters are clearly upscaled to 4K. The latency of 17 milliseconds is also suitable for enthusiastic gamers. Even when the images move quickly, no double contours are perceptible, only minimal flickering.

Like all of the manufacturer's high-quality OLED televisions, the Sony XR-65A95K has a screen that also serves as a speaker. On the back, two basses create a rich spatial sound that exceeds normal room volume. In addition, a special voice adaptation emphasizes dialogue.

TV signals reach the screen through two triple tuners via antenna (DVB-T2), cable (DVB-C) or satellite (DVB-S2). You can connect to the Internet via LAN or WLAN and connect smartphones to the Smart TV via AirPlay or Chromecast. You can connect additional devices via four HDMI interfaces. Thanks to Google TV as the operating system, you have access to numerous pre-installed services such as Amazon Prime, Disney+ and Netflix. These programs even have their own buttons on the device and can be controlled using a stylishly designed remote control. Gesture or voice control also works.

However, the test winner also has disadvantages: the image quality of the webcam for video chats is only mediocre, and HDR10+ is also missing. However, it was able to convince the testers with its energy efficiency. The Sony consumes around 118.8 watts in standard mode, around 144.5 watts in HDR images and 0.4 watts in standby.
